Pre-Procedure Instructions

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We hope this will increase the safety and expediency of our service. 

(Please read completely. These instructions are for your safety. If you do not follow these instructions, it could result in Cancellation/Reschedule or Injury)


  •  What can I expect on the day of surgery?

 On the day of surgery, you should plan to arrive at the center about 1 hour prior to your scheduled surgery time. A staff member will review your medical history. The staff will ask a number of questions to facilitate your care and stay at the surgery center. You will be asked to sign a Consent for Surgery form, authorizing permission to the physician for your care. A family member and/or significant other are welcome to stay with you until you are taken to the operating room. Upon returning from the operators suite, you will be continuously monitored by a nurse until you are fully awake and alert. At this time, you will be instructed of your post-operative care about exercise and activities that you may need to perform during this time. A copy of your post-operative instructions will be provided to you.


  • Should I take my usual medications?

The following medications have blood-thinning properties. Check with the prescribing physician first and provide written approval prior to stopping.

  • 14 days prior: Ticlid (ticlopidine), abciximab, Integrilin (etifibatide), Aggrastat (tirofiban) and Heparin
  • 7 days prior: Plavix (clopidogrel)
  • 4-5 days prior: Coumadin (warfarin)
  • 1 day prior: Lovenox (enoxaparin), Fragmin (dalteparin), Normiflo (ardeparin), Orgaran (danapariod) and Innohep (tinzaparin)

8 hours before your procedure:

  • Nothing by mouth except for blood pressure, heart, thyroid, antacids and asthma medicine. Take these with tiny sips of water Only. If you have asthma, please bring your inhaler with you into the pre-op area.
  • If you are a diabetic, please take any oral medications for diabetes in the AM with sips of water. If you take insulin, please only take half of your normal dose.
  • Bring a Current list of medications taken in the past 7 Days including over the counter with dosage, frequency and last time taken. 

 

  • Can I eat or drink before surgery?

You should not eat or drink anything 8 hours before your surgery, this includes water, gum and hard candy. Consuming food and or liquids prior to your surgery most often results in your surgery being postponed.


  • Can I drive myself home?

No, please arrange for a driver. Drivers must stay during your procedure unless specifically approved. Please make arrangements for transportation needs for the Rest of the Day since you Cannot drive. No major life changing decisions for 24 hours after the procedure.


  • What should I wear?

If possible, please wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes that are easy to remove and to put over surgical dressing. Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home.


  • What methods of payment are acceptable?

Tenaya Surgical Center, LLC proudly accepts cash, check, and credit card to include VISA, MasterCard, and American Express. We also offer financing through Care Credit.


  • Can payment arrangements be made?

Payment in full is required at the time of service. This includes all copayments/co-insurance or deductibles. If you believe you qualify for economic hardship, please contact the Surgery Center office at (702) 838-7755.


COVID Policy

Staff:

  • Our Specialized staff of experienced nurses, technicians, doctors, and administrative personnel ensure quality, personal care to each patient. Our priority at Tenaya Surgical Center, LLC is patient safety and satisfaction. All employees at Tenaya Surgical Center, LLC have their temperature checked daily, wear a mask, practice proper hand hygiene, and don PPE as needed.

Patients:

  • All patients expect to have their temperature checked upon arriving to the facility and must wear a mask. We ask that only patients wait in the waiting room. Due to the limited size of our waiting room and in efforts to adhere to social distancing, we may ask patients to wait in their car in which time a staff member will call them in for their appointment.

Visitors:

  • All visitors will have their temperature checked upon arriving to the facility and must wear a mask. We ask that all patient rides wait in their car as not to take up space in the facility for our patients. The caring staff will notify the ride as soon as the patient is ready for discharge.
